4.2.4 Let’s do some practice
Let’s try now to create a rubric to assess your students’ learning after a textual-analysis activity.
Suppose that your students have done the textual analysis of the Carlsberg beer commercial ad described in Module 3, Unit 3.1 . Suppose also that, as a final assignment, you have asked them to write a three-paragraph essay applying the same three-step analytical structure: * Description * Meaning of the text * Judgment. Finally, suppose you want to use a section to assess their essays.
Fill in the levels of the rubric in Table 8 below , but before you start, let us suggest you to:
- go back to Table 1 or Table 2 to recall what learning expectations you should have in case of textual analysis (i.e., what kinds of competence your students should achieve)
- go back to Table 3 and Table 4 to see examples of rubrics
